Nina Sky is made of two identical twin sisters Nicole and Natalie Albino. The girls always thought ‘the sky is the limit’ for them, so they took the first two initials from each of their names “Ni” ans “Na” and came up with Nina Sky. Nina Sky had many musical influences as children. Their step father was a DJ, so music was always a part of their lives.
In 2004, Nina Sky wrote Move Ya Body with the help of production duo The Jettsonz, Eilijah Wells and Lionel Birmingham. Nina Sky was then signed to Next Plateau Entertainment and they began to work on their self titled debut album for Universal Records. When Move Ya Body was released it sky rocketed to the top on the Billboard Hot Dance Music chart and reached number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100. Nina Sky began appearing on other songs and remixes and soon started to record a second album in 2007.
In late 2007 Nina Sky separated from their label Universal Records and I can’t find anything on whether their second album, Starting Today was ever released. Nina Sky did end up releasing an EP called The Other Side in 2010, for digital download only though. A video for their first single, You Ain’t Got It (Funk That), was released but hasn’t made much noise. However, Move Ya Body will continue to get us on the dance floor, it’s a part of our generations Ol’ Skool.
